In this free webinar recording Dr Stewart discusses common toxicities encountered in cats and dogs in practice. He runs through how to take a thorough history in these cases and how and when to use the following decontamination methods:

  1. Emesis
  2. Gastric Lavage
  3. Enemas
  4. Absorption
  5. Diuresis
  6. Intralipid therapy

Dr Steward then considers the following specific toxins: 

  1. Foods: chocolate, grapes/raisins, onions/garlic, xylitol
  2. Poisons: Rodenticides
  3. Plants: mushrooms, lilies, cannabis
  4. Medicines: NSAIDs, acetaminophen, antidepressants, stimulant drugs, Vitamin D, Albuterol
  5. Chemicals: Topical flea/tick treatment, ethylene glycol
