Dr Philip Judge first describes the clinical presentation of shock in cats, and how it compares to the three stages of shock we usually see in dogs. More detail is given on the underlying cause of the different presentation in cats which involves specific receptors in the feline atria and ventricle, combined with noradrenaline release which leads to centrally mediated hypothermia.

The podcast covers the possible causes of shock in cats, as well as how to approach management and treatment of these often difficult cases.

Finally, Dr Philip Judge reviews why patients don’t always respond to treatment, and what to do in such situations.
