Course Content
This course follows on from the basic abdominal ultrasound course and is aimed at general practitioners who are already confident in performing a basic abdominal ultrasound examination and who feel ready to approach the more challenging areas of the small animal abdomen.
We will begin by reviewing the ultrasound appearance of commonly encountered pathology within the uro-genital and gastro-intestinal tracts, before addressing the ultrasound technique, normal appearance and commonly encountered pathology of the pancreas, adrenal glands and major abdominal lymph nodes.
Although we can’t promise that you will go home able to find the adrenal glands in every patient, by the end of the day you should be much more confident in your ability to systematically search the abdomen for these smaller, more challenging structures.
As for the basic ultrasound course, the day will be biased towards practical scanning: there will be several short lectures interspersed with longer practical sessions, allowing you to get as much hands-on scanning as possible.
Refreshments: Lunch will be provided and first-class coffee and other hot drinks made to order throughout the day!
