This free Veterinary Webinar is produced by London Vet Specialists with Dr Ian David Jones BVetMed, MVetMed, CertVDI, DipECVDI, PhD, MRCVS. This webinar recording describes how to recognise the appearance of heart disease in radiographs. It follows on from a webinar that explains how to assess radiographs of the heart.
Dr Jones talks about how specific heart diseases appear on thoracic radiographs. He points out the changes seen in the most commonly encountered heart diseases, namely: mitral valve disease, dilated cardiomyopathy and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. We are also shown the appearance of pericardial effusion, pulmonic stenosis and aortic stenosis on thoracic radiographs.
Finally Dr Jones talks briefly about congenital heart disease – patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) and ventricular septal defects (VSDs), with examples of how they appear on thoracic radiographs.
